"Shimokitazawa" by Miki Stromberg

$350.00

Medium: Pastel, Colored Pencil, Ink

Dimensions: 12×18×1

I captured this scene when I went back to Japan in 2022. Usually, this particular area is much busier, but at this time, due to ongoing COVID travel restrictions, there was very little traffic. The business across from the subject of this painting was closed, so I was able to sit for some time and work on it. I was impressed by the size of the bonsai that was sitting next to the man who was smoking next to the no smoking sign.”

“I was born and raised in the vibrant city of Tokyo and now call Los Angeles home. My art is a fusion of cultural influences that capture the subtle, often unnoticed moments of nostalgia and curiosity. I have displayed my artwork in various places, including the City of Santa Clarita, Los Angeles Makery, and Boundary Artist Group. I currently work in entertainment industry particularly as a scenic painter, which has taught me how to use color and texture to create environments that draw people in. The experience has helped me make art that turns everyday scenes into something special and uncover the hidden beauty.”
