Mending: The Radical Act of Repair with A. Laura Brody • Sunday, July 6, 2025• 2-4 PM

$125.00

Tariffs got you down? Fast Fashion making you cringe? Mending helps you
fix what you have (and love) without lining the pockets of billionaires!

Amazon, Temu, and Shein make it easy to buy so we get hooked, destroying
small businesses in the process. Most returned Amazon items go direct to
landfill, and the company treats their workers like dirt. Piles of fast
fashion are dumped on West African land— and sometimes catch fire. The
people making our clothes are routinely abused, have their wages stolen,
and die in factory collapses. And for what? Junky clothing and toys that
fall apart on us.

We can do better.

Mending is soothing, satisfying, and soul fulfilling. It can be
whimsical, beautiful, and practical, and it is always better in good
company.

Join us for some radical repair at the Los Angeles Makery! $125

PS: Check out Remainders Pasadena for all kinds of sewing and craft
supplies— AND check out the Makery’s art supply bins and fabric samples!
No need to buy new."

A. Laura Brody has 30 years experience as a costume crafts person, designer, and maker. She's made costumes for LMFAO, the Black Eyed Peas, and Rhianna, among others. She has worked for Netflix, Disney Imagineering, the LA Opera, Disney and Nickelodeon TV, Diavolo Dance Theatre, and many specialty costume houses. Her relaxed, encouraging, and adventurous approach to teaching makes pattern making, draping, crafts, and sewing accessible and fun.
If you can dream it up, she can make it- and show you how to make it too.
