Lumen Printing with Richard S. Chow

$150.00

Lumens (alternative photography) are camera-less prints made using objects like plants, flowers, other materials or transparencies in direct contact with black and white silver gelatin photographic paper. Although it is BW paper, the resulting print is usually colored with surprising tones.

This is an introductory class, covering a brief history, hands-on printing, end to end process reviewed and discussed, including toning methods, and workflow options.

Attendees are encouraged to bring their unique materials for photograms or other image making ideas. Note that the final print can be fixed (via darkroom Fixer chemical) to make it archival or final if one prefers. If time permits, other concepts of alternative photography can be covered, e.g. combination of Lumen and cyanotype. Maximum of 6 attendees.

The workshop will be led by Richard S. Chow.
