“My fine art photography is informed by my 4-decade career as a photojournalist. Photography has always been my way to explore and try to understand the world around me. Photography is a universal language, which speaks to us on an emotional level without the need for words. Henri Cartier-Bresson (often considered the father of photojournalism) described a good photograph as one that captures a “decisive moment,” creating an image that captures a universal moment.
My work is about the quiet moments, everyday things that are frequently overlooked. I focus to find the beauty and universality in daily life. My hope is that my work plays a small part to help us better understand and appreciate our world and ourselves. I am the originator/author of two books of interviews and portraits: On Being 100: 31 Centenarians Share Their Extraordinary Lives and Wisdom; On Our Own Terms: Portraits of Women Business Leaders.”
