“I’m a Northeast Los Angeles resident who worked in the garment industry as a patternmaker for many years. I have always made things. If I couldn’t buy it, I would try to make it with what I had. When I discovered I loved spinning on an antique great wheel and couldn’t find one locally, I built one from bicycle parts.
Sewing and knitting were my creative outlet, and the Fig Knit-On show at Future Studio in 2010 was my first opportunity to create knitted pieces for a gallery show.
Since then I have participated in several Yarn Bombing Los Angeles events, including the Forest: For the Trees traveling show; knitted donuts in The Coaster Show; and Makery shows featuring repurposed materials.
Inspired by the metal street art of Mr. Kook and Blake Shane, my knit circles, donuts, and sea creatures have adorned over 450 phone poles across the country.”
