Artist Statement: This assemblage piece embodies deep rooted personal memories that have been traveling with me since my childhood. Each object here collectively echoes familiar fragments that comprise a unique part of the texture of the garment industry of Los Angeles. As a young child of a skilled garment worker, I would often entertain myself for many hours at a time playing with used sewing machine parts while my mother worked nearby. This indelible experience has molded who I am today.
