"LILITH, 2024" by Mary Cheung

$425.00

LILITH, 2024. Digital Photography, 26" x 30". $425.00

Lilith is from my Ascension series, a metaphor for life and each person’s personal hell and challenges. What would it look if we were to escape the things that torment us? I like the idea of Lilith as someone you might run into at the gateways of hell. Lilith left Adam after she refused to become subservient to him and then would not return to the Garden of Eden after she had coupled with the archangel Samael. She gave up paradise to have her independence. Someone who is in control of her own destiny deserves recognition and is a Goddess.

Statement: “I am a multi-disciplinary artist, an innovative Artist and Costume Designer. My work contains a strong sense of story as well as a highly sensuous style. I mostly work in painting or photography creating conceptual art and sometimes I make art that is wearable and innovative. I have been creating art since I was young. Grew up the youngest in a family of eight. I came to America at the age of 2 and grew up in San Francisco. Attended American school during the day and Chinese school at night.”
