Artist Statement: Ed Burgess (Pastey Whyte) I create combine paintings, assemblages and constructions that mix the past & present. I do not adhere to one particular style or medium. I have made several series of works using found objects, found images, and repurposed materials. I find source images from my collection of vintage magazines, catalogs and objects. I then transform these original materials into something oddly attractive and poetic. A motico of images, objects and paint. For over ten years I have also been an active participant in the “un-commissioned public art” of the Los Angeles Street Art movement. I am also known by my nom de guerre “Pastey Whyte”. My street work stands out in the field and I have drawn a following of fellow street artists and fans of the genre.
