“I work both on-location and in my studio with the precision of a designer and practiced artist. I use high quality Holbein and Winsor Newton Gouache and Watercolor pigments on Arches Watercolor paper.
Painting quiets my designer's mind and allows me to simply observe and create. From my home base in Downtown Los Angeles to wherever I travel, I'm drawn to moments where nature and urban life intersect. Through gouache and watercolor, I aim to capture not just what I see, but the feeling of being present in that moment.”
Julie is a realist painter and designer whose work moves fluidly between the studio and the street. With a BFA in Communication Design from Washington University, she has shaped brand and digital experiences for clients in nutrition, tech, and finance—while maintaining a dedicated practice as an on-location painter. Working primarily in gouache and watercolor, Julie documents the world around her with immediacy and attention to light. She has exhibited on both coasts with the New England Watercolor Society and Urban Sketchers Los Angeles.
