“Interstellar Entities” by Julie O’Sullivan

The beauty of city living is that you are surrounded by different frequencies and vibes. Each person is an orb of energy. Some orbs radiate light while others radiate dark. They both coexist in a hectic urban environment. There are those who have fire in their centers, aggression, anger, and hate bubbling under a dark core. They are the black holes that suck away the energy of others. Some people radiate light, peace, calm, and tranquility.

Living in the city, I have learned that this exciting and vibrant environment is full of energy, both good and bad. I have learned to radiate love, peace, and kindness.

My studio is in the heart of downtown where businesspeople and the homeless coexist moderately harmoniously. When I step outside of the studio, I am struck by the gritiness of where my studio is located, while at the end of the block in one direction, there are new buildings and affluent people. If you walk in the other direction, you see the poorer population and run down buildings with immigrant street vendors.

I is amazing to be able to experience all of this, though it is very emotionally charged and intense. It is a far cry from living by the beach.

It is wonderful to see people from different worlds come together, united in protest against what is happening to the people that make this city what it is, a colorful melting pop of rich cultures from around the world.

I love this energy and am grateful that I am able to navigate an intense environment. It is literally the opposite of where I was raised and I am in awe of it’s wonder everyday.
